On the morning of September 17th, 2008, Stuart FFA members and agricultural education students traveled down the road to Atkinson to participate in the District X Range Judging competition sponsored by the West Holt FFA Chapter. Members spent the morning identifying range plants, determining range condition, degree of use, as well as identifying specific range sites. Earlier in the week the students completed a general knowledge exam and a ranch map with a stocking rate problem online.

Following are the results from the Junior Division: Ben Kaup–21st, Doug Larsen–26th, Garrett Howitt–31st, Paul Johnson–33rd, Elana Kaup–37th, Travis Wallinger–38th, Kassidy Paxton–48th, Zach Kunz–51st, Trever Thompson–52nd, Garrett Farr–55th, Taylor Kunz–58th, Ryan Larabee–62nd, Curtis Kubik – 64th, and Brianna Miller–74th. 

Kyle Dvorak and Megan Olson also competed in the senior division and at the time of this writing, the official results have not been verified.

The students gained a great deal of knowledge from this contest and are looking to improve as they compete in the Area 5 Range Judging Contest on Wednesday, September 27th near Battle Creek, NE.
